THE FIRST STEAMSHIP ON LAKE BALATON

Before 1846, travelling around Lake Balaton meant slow journeys by cart or sailing boat. That changed with the launch of the Kisfaludy Paddle Steamer. A technical innovation in its day, it was also an elegant floating salon, with a dining room, a library and occasional live music. Carrying hundreds of passengers, the steamer quickly became a popular attraction among wealthier travellers, and over time even the growing middle class could afford a lake cruise on its deck.

Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of Hungary’s Reform Era aboard our historical boats, the Kisfaludy and the Hableány Paddle Steamer, for a truly unique experience. The Kisfaludy accommodates up to 85 guests, making it ideal for larger gatherings, while the Hableány is perfect for more intimate events of up to 45 guests. Our experienced staff will take care of all technical arrangements, and guests are welcome to bring their own cake or cold catering on board by prior arrangement.
